Ryan Canissario
Ryan Canissario, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the neuroimmunology-MS division at the VCU Department of Neurology.

Previously, Dr. Canissario worked at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, where he completed fellowships in Neuroimmunology and Experimental Therapeutics. Dr. Canissario also served as chief resident of the Adult Neurology Residency program at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Canissario has worked in several neuroimmunology and MS outpatient clinics, including a Botox clinic, used to treat MS-related spasticity with botulinum toxin. Additionally, he was the principal author of the case series entitled: Neuropathy due to coexistent vitamin B12 and B6 deficiencies in patients with Parkinson’s disease, published in the Journal of the Neurological Sciences in November 2021.
Dr. Canissario received his undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University and his post-baccalaureate in Pre-Med from Columbia University. Dr. Canissario received his M.D. from the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center.
